The audience gave a huge thump up to Disney’s recent production Frozen II this weekend, as evidenced by the sequel’s domination at the weekend box office. After a strong start on Friday, Frozen II’s opening weekend scores $127 million making it the highest-earning animated movie both in Canada, and I the United States as was expected by the studios.

Disney has recently achieved a big win with Ford Versus Ferrari following its purchase of the 20th Century Fox Studio.

According to reports, Frozen II acted as a breath of fresh air for the movie industry post the failure of Charlie’s Angels, Doctor Sleep, and also Terminator: Dark Fate and is now the highest-earning animated movie for November.

The first part of Frozen which was released during Thanksgiving weekend in 2013 had earned around $93 million. The present sequel has brought $100 around the world on Friday which was quite expected given that the first film had won Oscars and since then fans had been patiently anticipating the release of the newest installment.

Frozen II has gathered a lot of praise from around the globe and has been featured as number one in nearly every part of the world. Also, it was the highest-earning animated movie ever in the United Kingdom as well as in France. The movie had the third-highest opening for a cartoon film in China as well.

By calculating all the box offices from around the world, Frozen II has reportedly collected a whooping amount of $350million. Other top-earners this past weekend include Matt Damon and Christian Bale’s critically acclaimed movie Ford Versus Ferrari.

Amidst all the success Frozen II is enjoying, the film industry is still disappointed with the total revenue generated so far this year that is down by almost 10%. Another biggest financial disappointment includes Charlie’s Angels which has earned only $3.1 million after the revenue dropped by 62% in the second weekend.

Liongate’s Knives Out is another such movie that has earned only $2 million at early showings but is awaiting more screenplays on theaters this Wednesday.

Disney has undoubtedly ruled at the box office this year with films like The Avengers, Frozen II, and Aladdin under its hood.
