As revealed by the organization in the recent times, Korea's team Griffin is in the process of terminating player contracts ahead of Summer Split 2020, after the relegation of the team from the LCK.

The team of League of Legends was placed at the last position in LCK last month with a 4-13 record before falling short in the summer proportion series. Griffin was decisively defeated by Seorabeol and Sandbox Gaming in back-to-back games of best-of-three series, despite getting support from Kim ‘WADID’ Bae-in joining the roster.

The organization said, ‘We are deeply sorry and thankful to the fans who have supported Griffin throughout the years’, and they also said, ‘We will come back as a new Griffin’.

This new development would also mean junger Lee ‘Tarzan’ Seung-yong, mid laner Son ‘Ucal’ Woo-hyeon, and ADC Park ‘Viper’ Do-hyeon will be entering free agency leading up to the summer season. Despite the team performing not up to the standards in the Spring Split, these three players are well sought-after and will almost certainly be picked up by a team in the LCK or elsewhere.

At one time, Griffin was considered as one of the best teams in Korea. It used to consistently achieve top ranks in the league, performing superbly on the international stage. But, after a roster reshuffle before the year of 2020, the team didn’t look like their former selves.

Losing mid laner Chovy – the centerpiece of the team – along with the top laner Choi ‘Doran’ Hyeon-joon, support Son ‘Lehends’ Si-woo, and coach Kim ‘cvMax’ Dae-ho clearly took a toll on the roster.

Well, the junger Tarzan and ADC Viper must not have any issues in finding some other team for summer split since they were performing extremely well, keeping in mind, the circumstances around the team. According to some of the most recent rumors, Viper might join Hanwha Life Esports to stay in the LCK while Tarzan is exploring various options to go to LPL of China. At this moment, no new news has been confirmed by any of the teams, but the sources are pretty credible, so this we will hear more about this soon enough.

On the other hand, Griffin is looking forward to exploring various options out of the League of Legends. After suffering through a devastating season where the team lost their main players, it is pretty understandable that they would want to get out of it and save their investments for the other games. Sadly for the fans, they may never get to see a team like Griffin again, due to the removal of Promotion tournaments. With most of the major regions having moved out from the Promotion tournaments, in order to make sure that they get franchised, Griffin’s will remain in the history of the game as the team who went from qualifying to Worlds to getting knocked out of LCK in one season.

If Griffin ever wants to get themselves rejoined into the LCK, a full new team has to be the only way forward.
