This weekend saw the Duchess of Cambridge debuting on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast along with host and bestselling author Giovanna Fletcher. Kate Middleton makes her podcast debut, discusses hypnobirthing, motherhood, and early childhood development.  She also discussed pregnancy and her 5 Big Questions survey and on this process revealed that her three children Prince George 6, Princess Charlotte 4, and Prince Louis 1 were delivered when she was into hypnobirthing.

During all of her pregnancies, Middleton had suffered from hyperemesis, which is a serious and extreme form of morning sickness, after which she had realized the power of the mind over the body.

The Duchess went on to disclose that she had suffered from very bad morning sickness which clearly did not make her the happiest of the pregnant people. Rather it was utterly displeasing. She adds that she was really sick and was not feeding on the things she should have eaten. But amidst all this chaos, she was somehow able to take in all the goodness into the body which could help her to grow a new life within her. All of this seemed extremely fascinating to her, added Kate.

Kate stated that it was only through this sickening process of hyperemesis that made her realize the power of the mind over the body because during this particular period she had to try almost everything to help her make it through it.

Middleton explained how she got connected with hypnobirthing, the process which involves self-hypnosis and techniques to help the body relax before labor and childbirth.

As per the Mayo Clinic, the hypnobirthing classes teach an individual how to use music, visualization, words, prompts from birthing partners, and a positive mindset to help control the labor pains and the sensations involved during the process.

Kate also disclosed that there are various levels involved and Prince William did not stand there to chant sweet nothings to her. She added that it was something that she wanted to do on her own for herself and that’s why did not even ask her husband to get involved in the process.

She could feel the power of meditation and deep breathing involved in hypnobirthing and it was when Kate was really sick she had realized that she could actually take control during her labor. For Middleton, it was very powerful because when things were really bad during her pregnancy; this process had helped her immensely to enjoy the labor.

After all this, Kate stated that she actually liked her labor because she was well aware of the fact that it was an event that had an ending. However, the Duchess completely understands that hypnobirthing may not work out for everyone because labor and delivery can be extremely difficult for different individuals.

Kate’s appearance on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast was meant to promote her new 5 Big Questions survey for early childhood development and the episodes are now available wherever the podcasts are streamed.
