For those Canadian viewers who keep a sharp notice of when Vancouver shows up in a TV series must get ready to spot it even more often.

The streaming giant, Netflix has reportedly inked a very long-term deal with a Burnaby production center to make the Lower Mainland one of its three international content hubs.

However, the terms of the deal with the Canadian Motion Picture Park have not been released yet, but CMPP principal, Marjorie Poore has reportedly told Global News that it will see the company lease seven of its eighteen film stages.

The massive property which stretches between Marine Drive and the Fraser River covers approximately twenty-five acres with the studios ranging between twelve thousand and forty thousand square feet.

On Friday, Poore said that it was indeed a great fit for Netflix as they are anyway going to pick up facilities that would help them accomplish their goal of producing some great shows. Moreover, this also means that there is a tremendous depth of talent in every area.

While this deal secures longtime stability for Netflix in the Lower Mainland, it is, however, far from the company’s first foray into the region.

In recent years, the company has reportedly produced Altered Carbon, Lost in Space, The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, and other titles in Vancouver.

According to the casting directors, Catherine Falcon and Bim Narine, the deal is supposed to be good news for the local film workers.

Narine stated that as the streaming services are getting bigger and bigger, they want to create more, and more content. And, the fact that they are willing to create more content there is a big deal for all.

Falcon said that with the quarantine requirements on the U.S. actors entering Canada during the pandemic would fetch more work for the local actors.

She also said that it is a very good sign because of the additional industry it would bring to them. Now they have Lifetime, Hallmark, and big studio productions like Netflix happening there, which is certainly a very big opportunity for everyone out there, she added.

According to the Canadian Motion Picture Park, the first productions to get underway at the new Netflix hub shall be an untitled Sandra Bullock Project and the Supernatural horror series named Midnight Mass.
