Monty Panesar feels that India is going to miss the services of Ravindra Jadeja even though Axar Patel is included in the tests against the English team. The Indian team will not get much time to celebrate their success Down Under and soak in the euphoria that has surrounded them for their brilliant show in Australia. The next assignment for the Indian team is getting ready to start as they will lock horns with England for a four-match test series at home and it is just around the corner.
On Wednesday, the English time has arrived in Chennai for the first two test matches of the series after they have beaten Sri Lanka with a 2-0 win. Furthermore, England can take heart from the fact they are the only touring side who have beaten the Indians 2-1 in a test series back in the year 2012-13.
In that particular series, Monty Panesar took 17 wickets with a splendid average of 26.82. He believes that the first couple of tests in Chennai will set the tone for the entire series. He further added that if England manages to win a match, it will give a world of confidence from them in the rest of the series. He also said that England is going to put up a great fight against the formidable Indian side.
Monty has featured in 26 ODIs and 50 tests and also played a single T20 match. He feels that Jack Leach and Dom Boss should not pressurize themselves as they will bowl to the brilliant Indian batting line-up. The 38-years-old said , in India the bowlers are going to have an in and out field and fielders will be both in the deep as well as the close-in positions. The spinners have to keep mixing the bowling and the scoring opportunities should be cut down for the Indian batsman. This is going to prompt the Indian batsman to take more risks.
In the upcoming series, the Ashwin factor is going to be crucial according to Panesar. He went on to say that Ashwin has performed brilliantly in the Australian tour and he will come up with lots of confidence in this series. The outcome of the series will depend upon how the English batsman is going to play him. The Indian off-spinner has become smarter and how he is bowling at this moment tells that he is in his best form.
