Famous K-pop label, Big Hit Entertainment is joining forces with Universal Music Group (UMG) from the US. The anticipation has increased since they are finding their next K-pop boy band.

The new project will be released under the joint-label of UMG's Geffen Records and Big Hit.

Big Hit Entertainment is the Korean label behind one of the famous artists and bands like BTS. On the other hand, Geffen has worked with Nirvana, Guns N’ Roses, and none other than Elton John.

This new project and band will be US-based. However, Big Hit said that the target audience is the global market.

The chief executive of Big Hit Entertainment, Bang Si-Hyuk said, "I strongly believe that UMG and Big Hit will create a synergy that will rewrite the global music history."

The US music labels are gaining more interest in K-pop since it has gone beyond any barrier of language and gained a huge fan base in the US.

The new project of finding a K-pop boy band will be done through a ‘survival-type' competition show. This will provide the fanatics a perspective on how K-pop groups prepare themselves and the activities behind the scenes.

The format of this process has been successful in South Korea and helped to find some of the wildest k- pop bands. However, the K-pop writer of EnVi Magazine Sarah Bathke said, that the format could be less effective in the US.

Bathke further added, "As we've seen, K-pop is only getting bigger in the US, so it will be interesting to see how this new group fares in a music market that has typically been hostile towards music in other languages and is just starting to open up to it."

US-based K-pop writer Carolina Malis has appreciated this collaboration project between two labels. She said that Big Hit is an expert in artist-development and engaging fans and on the other hand Geffen and UMG have a strong base in marketing, production, and distribution.

The chief executive of UMG, Sir Lucian Grainge said, "With their innovative approach to developing artists and embracing new technology, Big Hit has become one of the most dynamic companies in music entertainment."
