The United States is experiencing almost a vertical spike in the increase of Covid 19 cases across the country. However, this may not sustain more than only a few weeks. On Sunday the top pandemic advisor Anthony Fauci said.

Anthony Fauci said to ABC’s “This Week”, "We are definitely in the middle of a very severe surge and an uptick in cases". He called the upward infection rate was “really unprecedented”.

With the growing cases of the Omicron variant in the world, the USA sees the total number of affected was around 440,000. However, last year in February, it was around 200,000.

Fauci further mentioned that in South Africa, the first omicron variant was detected in November, and thereafter, it was subsided as quickly as someone could wish.

Evidence is coming from several countries that the Omicron variant is milder than the preceding variants. Even in the USA, the total number of bedridden and death are far lower than the nation had seen in the earlier phases.

Students in the country are set to return to the school from Monday after the holiday week for Christmas. Both the Education secretary and Fauci said that regular activities can be performed with precautions.

Anthony pleaded with parents that they should make sure that their kids are vaccinated. He said ABC, “We have lost almost two years of education….We can’t do it again”. He furthers added that the safest place for the kids would be inside the school.

However, all countries including the USA are struggling to find a solution that would keep public health safe without hampering economic growth. Even, Education Secretary Miguel Cardona of the USA said that it would be very challenging to make the students return to the classroom amidst Omicron.
