It's that time of the year and you can smell the eggnog or shall I say "Chocolate de Abuelita." In his new video Joni Sandez, you can see all the typical Mexican traditions that are celebrated in the Latin culture.

The style of music is Sierreño which includes the tuba, twelve, and six-string guitar. This instrumentation provides for a punchy yet melodic style of music. You can really hear the strings being plucked with intensity and the Tuba sounds causes a definite pronounced melody line.

The song "En Esta Navidad" starts with a walk down the stairs to an awaiting beautiful white Christmas tree, chocolate, conchas, and presents. Conchas are one of those tasty pastries that you don't see in the American culture. It resembles a sea shell and is very sweet in taste. Now the chocolate abuelita is also a very tasty chocolaty drink that you never see in any other tradition but the Hispanic one. It's made with steamy milk and chocolate mixture that comes in powder form.

It's a very enthusiastic and energetic song that makes you love the holidays just a bit more. It speaks of the usual gift-giving holiday that brings warmth to our hearts. We hope that with Joni Sandez's new song En Esta Navidad you can learn to understand and appreciate the culture a bit more. Who knows you might even end up eating your own chocolate abuelita and conchas.
