With just an official announcement scheduled to come for the Indian Premier League (IPL) as it formally starts to move out, the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) and the government in UAE are saying that they will consider the decision on behalf of BCCI and said that it is an exceptional move important for the situation and a very big one at that.

The league’s governing council spoke with the concerned authority over the phone on Sunday and discuss the shifting of the IPL’s 2020 edition it has been told by the vice-chairman of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), Khalid Al Zarooni that even besides IPL the relationship they share with the Indian Government and also the general public of India along with trade with India all these aspects are all very important as part of the history between the two countries and they are very proud of this heritage. The support that is shared between the countries is only going to benefit their relationships in the coming future.

An influx of visitors is expected by UAE more than 1400 as the sporting spectacle is very much looking forward to witnessing one of the most humungous exercises ever taken. Before this, IPL has been moved out of the country twice before and it is the second time that it is going to happen in the UAE itself but it is going to be a massive effort in pulling off one of the biggest shifts in the middle of a pandemic.

It has also been added by Al Zarooni that all the airports in the UAE have got facilities that are very highly effective that are going to excel in the passenger experience and processing. As far as safety and travel are concerned, leading benchmarks and highest standards in the world are set by UAE. The country has got all the confidence in the world in terms of managing any kind of traffic flows through the airports in UAE is going to be managed at the highest level.

Concerns related to the unrelenting virus that has surrounded has been addressed by the vice-chairman of ECB who is also the head of the Dubai Sports City added that The government of UAE has become the leading example for handling the pandemic and increasingly decreasing numbers are continued to be seen that is quite encouraging with an increased number of recoveries. At the start of the pandemic, immediate measures were taken and that is the reason why normalcy is comic back to UAE before many other countries in the world.

 

Mubashshir Usmani, the secretary-general of Emirates Cricket Board who is going to be in charge of the day-to-day details of the league once it is moved to the UAE has also spoken to the media. He said that it was a rewarding and exceptionally exciting experience to host the 2014 edition of IPL. Valuable experience is gained in logistics as well as the overall governance and movement between Emirates. With that experience and hosting other bilateral cricket meets they have a solid and sound understanding of what is required and they know how they need to engage and consult.

 

Usmani also added that they consider this to be a very big move and this is an exceptionally important one for delivering a successful tournament. He also said that this is at the top of their mind and ensures the fact that there are good enough resources to support the efforts put on by the health authorities for ensuring a safe location and at the same time delivering a successful tournament. Usmani further added that the executive teams and the ground staff at all the three stadiums have been working tirelessly on the maintenance part quite before the proposal to the BCCI has been presented. UAE can take pride in some of the best facilities they have infrastructure-wise. There are three grounds at Sharjah, Dubai and Abu Dhabi. There are two adjoining academy grounds at Abu Dhabi also. All those three facilities have at Dubai’s ICC Academy have access to practice grounds. The biggest practice facility in the world has got 38 wickets and there are a few simulated turfs. Eight teams are there as there will be no issues regarding ensuring proper practice sessions.

 

The stakeholders along with BCCI are working hard enough to create their bubbles that are bio-secure and necessary arrangements have been made. Usmani had also said that ECB will be provided with guidelines by UAE authorities in a timely and time-relevant manner so that the safety of the players and the stakeholders is ensured.
