New laws have been set out to restrict wood consumption and coal burning. The burning of traditional house coal will be banned entirely in Wales within two years.

The sale of wet wood for a home fire is considered to be heavily restricted by the Welsh Government to tackle air pollution.

Efficient and least polluting wood-burning stoves are installed and will be set out soon to buy and install.

Similar rules and regulations have already been established across many places in England.

Under this new proposed Clean Air bill, air quality would be set by the ministers and a requirement for a review of plans. The plans are set out to be tackle air pollution every five years.

The Senedd elections are due to be held in May. So there is no time to pass the bill until it is over. It would take around 2023 to introduce any coal ban measures.

The local authorities will be given more power to handle the vehicles with idling engines especially outside the healthcare institutes and schools. The amount of penalty will be increased as well.

Clean Air Zones and Low Emission Zones in towns and cities will be implemented with small-scale "home zones". The zones closed off to traffic in order to enable more clean air and improve the quality of air where children play.

According to Public Health Wales, 1400 deaths per year are caused by poor air quality. The campaigners have described different parts of the country as ‘disgrace’ considering the purity level.

Environment minister Lesley Griffiths said, "number one priority remains keeping our communities safe and supporting families and businesses through the Covid-19 pandemic".

He further explained his concerns and said "But just like COVID, air pollution disproportionately impacts the most disadvantaged and vulnerable in our society."

Chairman of Healthy Air Cymru and head of Asthma UK and British Lung Foundation Wales, Joseph Carter said "We are in the midst of a climate and public health emergency and need action now, not in three years' time."
